Biography
Olga Kulchynska was born in 1990 in Rivne (Ukraine). During 2005-2009 she studied at the Kiev Glier State College of Music, majoring in music theory. At the age of 19, she started her vocal studies at the Tchaikovsky Kiev National Music Academy of Ukraine with Maria Stefiuk and graduated in 2014. At the opera studio of the academy she performed Gianetta in L’Elisir d’Amore and La Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro. In 2015 she won the illustrious Francesc Viñas International Singing Competition.
Olga competed in the 2011 Grigory Alchevsky International Singing Competition in Kharkov, Ukraine, where she won the Grand Prix. She was a semi-finalist in the 2012 International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna, Austria. She won the third prize in the 2012 Bul-Bul International Vocal Competition, and she was awarded first prize in the 2012 Mykola Lysenko International Music Competition in Kiev, Ukraine.
In 2012 Olga participated in the fourth Youth Musical Academy of CIS countries organized by Yury Bashmet in Lviv, Ukraine where she attended master classes given by Professor Svetlana Nesterenko. In 2013 she participated in master classes with Olga Pasichnyk in Nowy Sacz, Poland.
In the season of 2013-2014 Olga was a member of the Young Artist Program of the Bolshoi Theater. Olga made her Bolshoi Theater debut in the small opera performance “Be in the Mood for Opera” singing the part of soprano. In February 2014 Olga made her debut as Marfa in the new production of Rimsky-Korakov’s “The Tzar’s Bride” and later while touring with the Bolshoi Theatre ensemble she appeared as Marfa in the concert performances of this opera in the Theater an der Wien (April 2014) and in the Avery Fisher Hall (Lincoln Center Festival, July 2014).
In September 2014 Olga joined the Bolshoi Theatre Opera Company as soloist. Currently she is preparing the parts of Musetta (La Boheme) , Amina (La Sonnambula), Susanna(Le Nozze di Figaro), Norina (Don Pasquale).
