Perelada Festival - Festival Perelada

A former 14th-century fortress, Peralada Castle (in Catalonia, Spain) has been the setting for the Castell Peralada Festival - later renamed the Perelada Festival - every summer in July and August since 1987. The castle is famous for its walled enclosure, church and cloister, which traditionally host recitals, concerts and small-scale operas, as well as its formal gardens, which house an auditorium for the festival's larger performances and summer night concerts.

 

Historically, the Perelada Festival has had a strong political mission of social responsibility, support and active contribution to culture and the dissemination of music. Every summer, the Festival Perelada offers a programme of opera and dance, with a commitment to excellence (especially by welcoming major international performers and companies), but also by making room for emerging young talents and new works - each year the Festival Perelada programmes contemporary works (opera or ballet) or even premieres, sometimes commissioned by the Festival itself. The Festival Perelada aims to make an active contribution to the cultural enrichment and influence of Catalonia.
