Description
Commissioned and produced by the Perelada Festival.
Genius Loci is a unique stage production that invites the viewer to lose themselves in an imaginary garden. Inspired by the fascinating book The Lost Garden (Elba, 2018) by Jorn de Précy, the show is a sensory experience: an intimate journey into an inner universe where logic dissolves and beauty hides amidst shadows and silences.
Directed by stage manager Rafael R. Villalobos and featuring renowned countertenor Xavier Sabata, this picturesque journey reflects nature, the fear of change, and the spirituality that inhabits chaos.
With a musical program spanning the Renaissance to the 20th century, featuring works by John Dowland, Henry Purcell, Benjamin Britten, and John Williams, Genius Loci plays with time, voice, and soundscape to revive the figure of a solitary, visionary gardener who could, in fact, be a reflection of ourselves.
Thanks to the collaboration of theorbist Jonas Nordberg, a production With a poetic approach featuring visual artist Cachito Vallés and a timeless atmosphere, the show is structured like a contemporary eclogue: a musical and philosophical journey interpreting the soul through voice, speech, and gesture.
An evocative and profoundly human proposition that invites contemplation, the desire to lose oneself... in order to better find oneself.
