Description
Piano : Saskia GIORGINI.
This summer, the Perelada Festival presents a unique and emotionally charged performance: In Paradise, a musical offering that unites the lyrical depth of Schubert and the pianistic virtuosity of Liszt, conducted by Julian and Christoph Prégardien—father and son—with pianist Saskia Giorgini and narrator and actress Alba Pujol.
The performance delves into the heart of Central European Romanticism, a period marked by travel as an essential metaphor for the human condition. The music of Franz Schubert (1797-1828) presides over the program with songs evoking the passage from life to death, such as Der Wanderer, Frühlingsglaube, and Im Abendrot. These melancholic and introspective pieces of music trace a poetic path towards eternity, culminating in Totengräbers Heimweh, in which the gravedigger meditates on the burden of life.
This inner journey takes us also leads to the contemplation of water as a symbol of passage and mystery, with works such as Schubert's "Meeres Stille" and "Auf dem Wasser zu singen," which evoke the figure of Charon. The music of Franz Liszt (1811-1886), with works such as "Lugubre Gondole," transports us to other landscapes, from Swiss lakes to Venetian canals, in an atmosphere charged with nostalgia, spirituality, and beauty.
A unique opportunity to experience the emotional power of Romantic music under the direction of two great masters of the genre. A sonic tribute to a passionate and transcendental era."
