Description

Created in December 2011 (read our presentation), this production of Turandot by Carlus Padrissa's La Fura dels Baus transposes Giacomo Puccini's opera in 2046: China is the world's leading power and holds Europe (which she saved from the economic crisis) under her rule. Turandot, tyrannical princess of a domineering China, exerts an authoritarian power over a submissive people. Carlus Padrissa does not exclude all hope: the salvation will come from the sacrifice of Liu, the loving slave of Calaf.

Production already resumed, as in 2012, 2016 and 2019.
