New production for the 2027 Bayreuth Festival

The 2027 Bayreuth Festival opens with a new production of Richard Wagner’s Lohengrin, entrusted to a young artistic team.
In the pit, the young Finnish conductor Tarmo Peltokoski (born in 2000) takes charge of the musical direction, bringing the verve of a rising generation to the production. On stage, Italian director Ilaria Lanzino, known for her avant-garde creations that capture the spirit of the times, promises a vibrant, contemporary interpretation of Wagner’s opera. Joining this duo is a stellar cast: Michael Spyres lends his brilliant voice to the Grail Knight, opposite Elsa Dreisig as Elsa (marking her highly anticipated Bayreuth debut), in a vocal encounter set to be a highlight of the Bayreuth summer.
