Wozzeck, Alban Berg's first opera, returns to Lyon after twenty years of absence.
"Relying on an architecture of formidable efficiency, Berg's music translates the cruelty of the world, through a unique expressiveness in the lyrical repertoire.
Richard Brunel and scenographer Étienne Pluss underline the relevance of the work for our times: in an environment of increased surveillance and manipulation, Wozzeck struggles in a mental labyrinth, a metaphor for our contemporary society."
