New production at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
On New Year's Eve 2026, the Metropolitan Opera will present Puccini's La Fanciulla del West, directed by British director Richard Jones – the New York institution's first new production of the work in 30 years.
For the occasion, soprano Sondra Radvanovsky adds to her repertoire the role of Minnie, ‘an extraordinary woman, a tavern keeper with a heart of gold, who finds love when she least expects it’. Alongside her, Korean tenor SeokJong Baek plays the charming bandit who arrives in a small, isolated mining town in California to win her heart, opposite baritone Christopher Maltman, the sheriff determined to mete out swift justice and capture Minnie. Maestro Keri-Lynn Wilson conducts one of the most thrilling lyrical adventures in history.
