Description

Recital.

On July 6, 2026 – the second evening of the Colmar International Festival – Alain Altinoglu returns to conduct the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra in a program blending French and Nordic music.

Joined by cellist Edgar Moreau, the conductor presents Berlioz’s Roman Carnival and Saint-Saëns’s Cello Concerto No. 1. This is followed by a Nordic counterpart: Peer Gynt, evoking the northern imagination shaped by Grieg based on Ibsen’s poetic drama. Featuring the luminous voice of Norwegian soprano Sofia Nesje Enger, the performance promises "a journey of contrasts, ranging from the whispers of the soul to dramatic emotional turmoil."
