The Flanders Opera Ballet continues its exploration of the Mozart/Da Ponte trilogy. Following The Marriage of Figaro in 2022/23, the institution has entrusted its new production of Don Giovanni to director Tom Goossens – who tackles Don Giovanni’s “infernal cycle,” his relentless escape from the call of redemption only to find himself invariably in hell after refusing the Commendatore’s offer of ransom.

Tom Goossens’ new staging “is conceived as a ritualistic quest where singers and audience members must confront a figure like Don Giovanni each night. Will this second chance lead to the repetition of the same mistakes, or can the vicious cycle be broken?”
