"In the Lully cycle undertaken with the Talens Lyriques, Atys is a must. I happened to be William Christie's assistant when the work was recreated at the Opéra Comique, for Lully's birthday, in 1987. For me, playing Atys was obvious, but not at the beginning of my Lully career. I would like to give a personal interpretation of this work, to explore it differently, from another interpretative principle, and by bringing together soloists of the first rank. The interpretation of an opera depends a lot on the personality of the singers, who give new life to the characters they embody, a new blood. At the very least, we will try to give this masterpiece together works new color and energy.”
