Production by the Tiroler Landestheater in Innsbruck, Austria (2022), which we previously reported on in our German columns.

"The chance encounter, on a cruise, of an Auschwitz survivor and a former camp guard opens up a world of reminiscences where forgetting and memory struggle. Based on an autobiographical story by Polish novelist Zofia Posmysz and at the instigation of Shostakovich, composer Mieczysław Weinberg creates a major 20th-century opera, imbued with powerful lyricism, somewhere between cruel irony and radical tragedy. The Passenger is being performed for the first time in France. The Innsbruck production we are hosting was named "Best Opera Production" by the Austrian Music Theatre Prize 2023."
