Description

Concert version

One of Jean-Philippe Rameau’s greatest successes, Zoroastre – the quintessential initiatory opera – promotes the ideals of freemasonry, paving the way for Mozart’s Magic Flute. Despite being threatened by evil powers, the couple formed by Zoroastre and Amélite emerge victorious from the hardships they have endured. In a dramatic illustration of the universal struggle between good and evil, this tragic opera revisits these legendary themes in a tempestuous lovers’ chase brought to us here by the top French baroque voices.
