General Information

Description

New production.

French adaptation in four acts of the opera Lucia di Lammermoor.
Translated by Alphonse Royer and Gustave Vaëz from the original libretto by Salvatore Cammarano, based on the novel The Bride of Lammermoor by Sir Walter Scott.

At the height of his career, Donizetti created a lyrical adaptation of Walter Scott's darkest novel: the premiere of Lucia di Lammermoor was a triumph in Naples, and the work was subsequently performed on the greatest European stages, including Paris, in a French version overseen by Donizetti himself.

In April and May 2026, the Opéra-Comique revives this French version, Lucie de Lammermoor, in a new production directed by Evgeny Titov, who "lays bare the cruel mechanisms of this merciless drama." Conductor Speranza Scappucci leads "this pinnacle of Romantic lyricism," notably accompanying Sabine Devieilhe's debut in the title role.

More information is available on the Opera's official website.
