Transposing to our time all this small world of freedom, artistic, social, sexual audacity too, Kristian Frédric chooses to replace consumption, this disease common in the 19th century, by its current equivalent, HIV, which conveyed in the 1980s the same kind of social stigma – and led to the same, inevitable end.
