A new production by Richard Jones.
Absent from the London stage for 35 years, Bellini’s I Puritani returns to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in a new production by director Richard Jones, who aims to explore both the tenderness of true love and the devastating anguish of loss.
On stage, Lisette Oropesa takes on the role of Elvira, renowned for her virtuoso coloratura and ethereal, dreamlike arias. She shares the stage with Francesco Demuro as her courageous lover. The score of Bellini’s opera is entrusted to Riccardo Frizza, who makes his Royal Opera House debut.
