The Opéra Orchestre Normandie Rouen has entrusted its new production of Wagner's The Flying Dutchman to director Marie-Ève Signeyrole. She brings the composer's epic work into resonance with our own era: ‘The mythological tale of this captain condemned to wander the seas forever, torn between hope and despair and seeking redemption, resonates with the contemporary struggles of those forced to flee and the endless cycle of migration. A powerful vision of this Wagnerian masterpiece, between mythological epic and human tragedy.’

On stage, Alexandre Duhamel sings the role of the Dutchman for the first time (role debut) alongside Finnish soprano Silja Aalto in the role of Senta.
