"This opera, first performed in 1810 at the Salle Feydeau in Paris, is now emerging from the oblivion into which it had fallen for over a century. Yet at the time, Nicolas Isouard, known as Nicolò's Cinderella, quickly became famous throughout Europe after a phenomenal Parisian success. In this opera, Cinderella, the fairy tale takes on a comic, ironic twist. The hit arias of the title role, Cinderella, contrast with the virtuoso performances of the story's villains. Takénori Némoto has skillfully adapted the score for a chamber music ensemble. We can also bet that the sets and costumes designed by Vincent Tavernier's team transform the Elizabethan theater into a magical setting."
