New production,
in coproduction with the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona.
For its entry into the repertoire of the Opéra national de Paris, this little-known score is staged by Peter Sellars, who is approaching an Italian opera for the first time. With the scenographer George Tsypin, he places the work in a palace with steel walls, which evokes the influence and surveillance exercised by a ruthless dictatorship.
