Description

In Angers on May 10th, then in Nantes from May 29th to June 4th.

The production will then be performed in Rennes from June 16 to 24, 2026.

"When he moves from operetta to comic opera, Jacques Offenbach loses none of his imagination. His Robinson Crusoe invites us to laugh at everything and savor the vocal and musical antics, but also the elegance of the "little Mozart of the Champs-Élysées."

We can trust the director, Laurent Pelly, familiar with the world of Jacques Offenbach, to take a different tack, like many others before and after him, on the legend of Robinson Crusoe. The composer wanted to mock exoticism and the British's immoderate taste for colonialism. His questions resonate with our times: where do we feel alone if not among others? Where and who are today's pirates and savages? A real pleasure, but not without bursts of tenderness and nostalgia, carried by the pen always alert of an Offenbach quick to let loose."

More information is available on the official website of the opera house.
