"An emblematic figure of Greek mythology, Medusa has continued to inspire artists over the centuries: Da Vinci, Rubens, Caravaggio, Cellini, Rodin, Picasso, among many others. In this new score commissioned by La Monnaie, composer Iain Bell and director and librettist Lydia Steier take on this myth to explore its human dimension. Carried by the voice of Olga Peretyatko, Medusa is reborn as a complex and moving woman. Together, they weave a heartbreaking tale that places the heroine's psychology at the center, alone amidst the frozen statues of those who, hungry for glory, tried to destroy her. Will you dare to look at her and discover who she really is?"
