French Premiere of the Opera MARS
An Irish National Opera Production, in co-production with the Opéra de Lille
MARS is a joint commission of the Irish National Opera, the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, the Klangforum in Vienna, and the Opéra de Lille.

As part of its "Winter Constellation" series, the Opéra de Lille presents MARS, an opera by composer Jennifer Walshe (described as an "operatic UFO"), for the first time in France following its premiere in Ireland in 2025. Blending music, text, and gestures, as well as NASA recordings, archival footage from past space programs, and excerpts from science fiction films, MARS promises "an immersive experience that is as astonishing as it is joyful."
