"With this First Murder, Scarlatti invents the "biblical thriller." While Cain is about to kill his brother Abel, Adam and Eve watch helplessly as the drama unfolds, while God and Lucifer confront each other within Cain's very soul. In a typically baroque spatialization effect, Abel's voice can even be heard from the afterlife! Scarlatti composed a major score for this quasi-opera, where the orchestra takes on completely new colors and where fratricide is heard like a caress. Thibault Noally passionately loves this music and brings with him his Accents and a young and brilliant cast."
