Description
"Alessandro Scarlatti is a prolix composer. The Italian Orpheus, as his contemporaries nicknamed him, was as happily interested in opera as in oratorio. In 1685, he composed Il trionfo della Grazia, on a libretto by Cardinal Benedetto Pamphili. The success was such that the work experienced a very large number of revivals. It must be said that the score is of impressive inventiveness, richness and mastery. This project, last part of the Oratorios rediscovered, is supported by the City of Lyon, the DRAC AuRA and Les Grands Concerts.
Borrowing its name from the hero of Honoré d'Urfé's Astrée, the Céladon ensemble explores the heritage of early music with charm and fantasy, seeking in each of its events to reinvent the form of its concerts. Led by singer Paulin Bündgen, the Ensemble enjoys exploring the repertoire linked to its countertenor tone and seeks to escape the beaten path between medieval, Renaissance and baroque music."
