General Information

Description

Created in 1963, the celebrated production by Franco Zeffirelli is one of the longest-surviving stagings at La Scala since the War. At the time, it was conducted by Karajan and sung by Mirella Freni and Gianni Raimondi. Then came Pavarotti, and then Kleiber on the podium. With the addition of these summer recitals, it is approaching 240 performances, in the theatre and on tour. The most-seen La Bohème in the world today takes on a South American feel, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel leading the Symphony Orchestra and National Youth Choir Simón Bolívar. Top-class voices include Maria Agresta and Vittorio Grigolo, and after Ailyn Perez and Ramón Vargas, to move audiences once again, with poverty and misery in everything, except in sentiments.

More information is available on the operahouse's official website.
